S’mores have an interesting history. The s’mores recipe first appeared in print in 1927 in a guide book called Tramping and Trailing with the Girls Scouts. This book gave tips for being in the wilderness and included recipes for foods that could be easily prepared in the woods and cooked over an open campfire. Troop leader Loretta Scoot Crew has been credited with the recipe. In the book, it states that when you toast marshmallows until they are melty and gooey and place them between graham crackers with a chocolate bar, it creates a treats that is so delicious, you will want ‘some more.’

While at the park, enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes before returning home to make your s’mores. Marie Kerr Park is located on the northeast corner of 30th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard.
